Muslim couples in Gombe State have been encouraged on simple life and constant prayers as way forward towards a peaceful and successful marriages.
Professor Abdurrashid Abdulganiy of Gombe State University gave the encouragement during this year’s Sisters Ramadan Lecture themed “Marriage Dispute Facing Muslim Homes in Current Economic Situation”, organized for women by the Islamic Medical Association of Nigeria (IMAN) Federal Teaching Hospital (FTH) Gombe Branch at the Central Mosque of the hospital.
The clergy said living a simple life is key to attaining a peaceful marriage especially during economic turmoils.
Professor Abdulganiy maintained that being contented with the little one has, formed part of appreciating Allah’s blessings which forms basis to getting more blessings.
The Islamic cleric noted that most of the marriage disputes being experienced by Muslim couples are not unconnected to avoidance of responsibilities by men, prioritizing secondary needs than basics, comparing life to those in affluence, fear of been belittle by others, being ungrateful to God Almighty and lack of contentment.
Advising couples on ways forward, the clergy encouraged husbands and wives to solely depend on Almighty Allah, engage in constant prayers for God’s forgiveness, avoidance of illegal means of wealth accumulation, partaking in night prayers, morning and evening supplications, and giving out alms to the needy and the less privileged.
He encouraged couples to remain contented and appreciative of Allah’s blessings, engaging in prayers and seeking for God’s interference in all issues.
Speaking to newsmen, the Amirah IMAN FTH Gombe branch Hajiya Amina Abubakar Waziri, said the lecture is organized to address issues undermining peaceful coexistence between and amongst couples.
She said the topic is carefully selected to address concerns leading to rampant divorce, degradation of discipline and peaceful coexistence at Muslim homes.
Speaking on behalf of the participants, Fatima Muhammad appreciated IMAN and Professor Abdulganiy for the preaching, assuring to put the lessons learned into practice.
