…Commends Governor Inuwa for Second Appointment, Pledges Service Delivery
The newly created Gombe State Ministry of Livestock Development has officially began operations with the assumption of duty by the pioneer commissioner Salihu Baba Alkali, as the pioneer commissioner.
In his inaugural address after receiving handover notes from the Permanent Secretary, Hon. Alkali expressed gratitude to Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, for finding him worthy to serve the state in the capacity of Commissioner for the second time.
“I sincerely commend and appreciate His Excellency, Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, for the confidence reposed in me to serve Gombe State again. I will not take this trust for granted. I am committed to justifying it through hard work and dedication,” the Commissioner stated.
He described the creation of the Ministry as a strategic move by the Governor to unlock potentials of the livestock sub-sector for food security, employment, and revenue generation.
He pledged to run an inclusive administration and work closely with the Permanent Secretary, Directors, and development partners to deliver on the administration’s mandate
Earlier, the Permanent Secretary, Saidu Ahmed Guli, welcomed the Commissioner and presented him with handover notes, files, and a brief on the mandate, structure, and ongoing programmes of the Ministry.
He assured the Commissioner of the full cooperation of the management and staff.
The Project Coordinator of Gombe State L-PRES Project, Professor Usman Bello Abubakar also congratulated Hon. Alkali and reaffirmed the project’s commitment to partner with the Ministry to improve livestock productivity and livelihoods across the state.
Hon. Salihu Baba Alkali was among the 23 Commissioners sworn-in recently by Governor Inuwa Yahaya and he previously served in the same cabinet.
The brief handover and assumption of duty ceremony held at the Ministry’s headquarters had in attendance the Permanent Secretary, Saidu Ahmed Guli, Directors, Heads of Units, staff of the Ministry, the Project Coordinator Gombe State L-PRES Project, as well as family, friends and well-wishers.
