The Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Gombe Branch, on Saturday continued its 2026 Law Week activities with a tree-planting exercise and fitness walk aimed at promoting environmental sustainability, healthy living and unity among members.

The activities commenced at the NBA Secretariat along Ashaka Road, where lawyers and other participants embarked on a road walk to the palace of the Emir of Gombe.

Speaking during the exercise, the Chairman of the NBA Gombe Branch, Barrister Alhassan Mu’azu, commended members for their cooperation, commitment and dedication to the success of the Law Week activities.

He also appreciated the security personnel who escorted participants and ensured their safety throughout the walk.

“We are grateful to our members for turning out in large numbers and dedicating their time to today’s activities. We also thank the security agencies for their support and professionalism,” he said.

In her remarks, the Chairperson of the Law Week Planning Committee, Barrister Hannatu Dauda Simon, said the week-long programme, which began with interfaith prayer sessions, had progressed to the tree-planting exercise and fitness walk.

She disclosed that the day’s activities would conclude with a novelty football match between members of the NBA and the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), scheduled for later in the evening.

According to her, the impressive turnout and enthusiasm displayed by members indicate that the 2026 Law Week celebration will be a successful and memorable event.

Also speaking, Barrister Ibrahim Muhammad Attahir, Esq., expressed appreciation to members on behalf of the branch leadership.

“On behalf of the Chairman, the Executive Committee and the Law Week Organising Committee, we sincerely thank all members who participated in this fitness walk. Your cooperation and understanding have contributed immensely to the success of today’s activities,” he said.

He announced that the sporting activities would commence by 3:00 p.m. at North-Eastern University, urging members to attend in their Law Week T-shirts and continue supporting the remaining activities of the Law Week celebration.
