Governor Yahaya Commends Tinubu For Appointing Gombe Emir As Chancellor

Gombe State Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya (CON) has expressed gratitudes to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for appointing the Emir of Gombe Dr Abubakar Shehu Abubakar III as the Chancellor of Micheal Okpara University of Agriculture Emudike Abia State.

The Gombe State Governor described the appointment of the Gombe paramount ruler as honour to the people of Gombe Emirate and the state as a whole.

Governor Yahaya gave this indication when he received the Pro-chancellor and Members of the a Governing Council of the University at the Government House on Friday.

Represented by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG) Professor Ibrahim Abubakar Njodi, Governor Inuwa Yahaya noted that the appointment will further deepen and strengthen the bond between the South and Northern parts of the country, adding that Gombe State Government will encourage qualified students seeking for admission into higher institutions to apply to the Micheal Okpara University.

A press statement signed and made available to Jewel Times by the Information Officer SSG’s Office Joshua ĆŠanmalam said the Governor assured the Governing Council that the emir is a versatile and dynamic leader who will deploy his wealth of experience towards the advancement of academic excellence in the institution and advised the board to work as a team for the development and progress of the institution.

Earlier speaking, the Pro-chancecellor Comrade Fidelis Edeh said they were in the state to familiarize themselves with the University’s Chancellor and Emir of Gombe HRH Dr Abubakar Shehu Abubakar III.

He express appreciation to the Chancellor, Government and people of Gombe State for their warm hospitality expressing confidence in the capacity and capability of the Emir of Gombe to deliver on his mandate.

He stresses the need for students of Gombe State origin and the north as a whole to patronize the university for better integration with those from the South so as to strengthen the unity and oneness of Nigeria and assuring of the institution readiness to offer admission to qualified candidates.

Among the board members is Honourable Daniel Timothy Burak who hails from Gombe State.
