…As Njoɗi Charges Commission To Meticulously Discharge Its Duties
The Chairman, Gombe State Responsibility Commission Umar Babagoro Bello says the commission will continue to evolve new strategies aimed at developing the socioeconomic dimensions of the state.
Babagoro Bello stated this when he led members of the commission on a courtesy visit to the Secretary to the Gombe State Government Professor Ibrahim Abubakar Njoɗi.
A press statement signed and made available to Jewel Times by the Information Officer SSG’s Office Joshua Ɗanmalam, said Bello explained that since the establishment of the commission in 2018, the corporate body has engage in the assessment of micro environment and enforcing laws tailored towards the promotion of economic activities in the state.
He reveals that the commission is empowered by the Fiscal Responsibility Law of Gombe State to compel individuals and corporate bodies to disclose the financial dealings and can place penalties on any entity found to have contravene the law.
He commended Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya for giving priority to the commission which distinguishes it from its pairs across the country.
While commending the state governor for giving them the opportunity to serve in the commission, Babagoro Bello assures of their unwavering commitment to serve without fear or favour.
Responding the Secretary to the Gombe State Government Professor Ibrahim Abubakar Njodi affirmed that it was in the spirit of transparency and accountability that the state domesticated the Responsibility Commission from the Federal Government.
He said the Inuwa Yahaya’s administration is committed to prudence in government hence his desire to domesticate the commission knowing fully well, that it can act as an anti graft agency.
“There is nothing to hide when it comes to issue of governance, if actually we are serving the people we shouldn’t be seen to be hiding anything”.
The SSG challenged the commission to continually beam its searchlight on government entities so as to ensure that their activities are carried out in line with laid down procedures.
On the commission request for operational vehicles, Improve running costs, need for permanent staff, ICT and other logistics, the SSG directed the chairman to make it formal for possible government action.
