The Acting Provost of Gombe State College of Health Sciences and Technology, Kaltungo, Associate Professor Umar Mohammed, has expressed deep appreciation to the Governor of Gombe State, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya for his continued support to the institution and the recent approval of a salary increment for staff.
Speaking during an interactive session with staff members of the college, the Provost highlighted the numerous strides made under the present administration, describing Governor Inuwa Yahaya as a visionary leader whose commitment to education and human capital development is both commendable and inspiring.
“The governor has demonstrated, time and again, that education is a top priority of his administration,” Professor Umar stated. “From the regular support to the college to the latest salary increment, the staff and students of this institution are indeed beneficiaries of his inclusive and people-oriented governance.”
Professor Umar Mohammed, who assumed leadership with a clear focus on revival and transformation noted that, the college has witnessed significant progress since his appointment as the sole administrator. He outlined achievements in the areas of academics, infrastructure, staff development, and environmental care, all of which are helping to reposition the college as a centre of excellence in health sciences education.
He reiterated his unwavering commitment to building on the solid foundation laid by the governor, ensuring the college becomes stronger, better, and more responsive to the needs of both staff and students.
“Our goal is to create a conducive environment for teaching and learning, while also prioritising the welfare of staff who are at the core of our success,” he added.
The provost further acknowledged the critical role played by the state government in strengthening tertiary education, noting that Governor Inuwa’s support has been instrumental in repositioning state owned institutions for better service delivery and academic performance.
Staff members at the event expressed gratitude for the salary increment and praised the provost for his transparent leadership style and efforts toward institutional growth.
With morale now boosted among staff and infrastructure steadily improving, the college looks set for a new era of academic excellence, professional training, and student satisfaction.
