Following the fire incident that razed one of Gombe Central Medical Stores, Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya has ordered for emergency measures including immediate reconstruction of a new store and other measures to replace the missing drugs and vaccines.

The governor gave the order when he paid an inspection visit at the stores, maintaining that the state government is doing everything possible to face the situation.

He said “I have directed the Commissioner for Works, Housing and Transportation to immediately come and see what remedial measures we need to take, so as to prevent such happening in the future to see things are done as soon as possible”.

The governor equally directed the State Fire Service to investigate and ascertain the cause and level of damages caused by the inferno.

He said efforts are being made for intervention from donor agencies, to immediately replace the missing drugs and other health equipment especially the over two million doses of polio vaccines and another one million doses of meningitis meant to immunize people of the state especially children against killer diseases.

Taking the governor round the razed down facility, the State Commissioner for Health Dr Habu Ɗahiru said the store serves not only Gombe State, but the entire north eastern states.

He said the inferno which started around 2:00 am on Monday, guts property worth over five billion Naira.
