The Coalition of Supporters and Coordinators of the former Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate for Bauchi South Senatorial District in the 2023 General Elections, Dr. Mahiru Maiwada Wundi, has endorsed Bauchi State Governor, Bala Abdulkadir Muhammad, for the Bauchi South Senatorial District seat in the 2027 General Elections under the platform of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM).
The endorsement was announced during a press briefing held in Bauchi by the Director-General of the Mahiru Wundi Political Movement, Alhaji Rabi’u Adamu Usman (Sarkin Fadan Boto).
He said the coalition made the decision after extensive consultations and discussions involving Governor Bala Muhammad and their political leader, Dr. Mahiru Maiwada Wundi.
According to Rabi’u Adamu Boto, Governor Bala Muhammad recently invited Dr. Mahiru Wundi to discuss critical issues relating to governance, political development, and the future direction of Bauchi South Senatorial District. He noted that the meeting provided an opportunity for both leaders to exchange views on the political landscape ahead of the 2027 elections.
He explained that following the meeting, Mahiru Maiwada Wundi returned to brief members of his political movement on the outcome of the discussions and the governor’s vision for the Bauchi South Senatorial District and the state.
The supporters were subsequently informed of the need to align with the political direction agreed upon during the engagement.
Rabi’u Adamu Boto, stated that “After carefully considering the report presented by Mahiru Maiwada Wundi, members of the coalition unanimously resolved to support Governor Bala Muhammad’s aspiration to represent Bauchi South Senatorial District in the Senate chamber”. He described the decision as one that was taken in the overall interest of the people of the Bauchi South Senatorial zone.
He further emphasized that members of the movement remain loyal to Dr. Wundi and would follow his political guidance. According to him, “this coalition is prepared to mobilise voters across the seven local government areas of Bauchi South to ensure the success of Governor Bala Muhammad at the polls in 2027”.
The Director-General also revealed that the coalition has fully embraced the Allied Peoples Movement (APM), stressing that Dr. Wundi’s supporters are now a significant force within the party.
He said their growing presence in the APM would strengthen the party’s grassroots structure and enhance its chances of success in future elections.
Alhaji Rabi’u Boto, noted that the rationale behind of endorsing Governor Bala Muhammad and identifying with the APM is based on the confidence and trust the coalition has in the political struggles of Dr. Mahiru Maiwada Wundi.
He maintained that the invitation extended to their political mentor by the governor demonstrated mutual respect and a shared commitment to advancing good governance and development.
He therefore called on supporters, stakeholders, and people of Bauchi South Senatorial District to unite behind the movement’s decision and work collectively toward achieving victory for Governor Bala Muhammad in 2027.
He expressed optimism that with the support of Dr. Wundi’s followers, the APM would emerge stronger and more competitive across the district and the state.
