Posted on October 9, 2025 by Jtimes

The Secretary to Gombe State Government (SSG) Professor Ibrahim Abubakar Njodi has described the human eye as a critical component to the entire body system, advising citizens of the state not to treat health issues affecting the eyes with disdain.

Professor Ibrahim Abubakar Njodi gave the advice when he received a team of health practitioners from Clinton Access Health Initiative and the Federal & State Ministry of Health as part of activities marking this year’s World Sight Day.

A statement signed and made available to Jewel Times by the Information Officer SSG’s Office Joshua ĆŠanmalam, said “The SSG who identified poverty and ignorant as some factors militating against a healthy sight, called on the citizens of the state to be deliberate on their eyes”.

During the visit the team conducted eye screening on the SSG as a prelude to conducting same on staff of the Government House.

Impressed by the team’s resilient to serving humanity, the secretary to the state’s chief scribe said his office will come up with a suitable plan to ensure that all staff of the Government House are screened.

Earlier in her address, the leader of the medical team from Clinton Initiative Zainab Mohammed explained that they were in the State to conduct eye screening for civil servants and staff in the state as part of activities to mark this year’s World Sight Day.

She said the outreach is been conducted in collaboration with Gombe State Ministry of Health, maintaining that the Federal Ministry of Health with the Support of Clinton Access Health Initiative is currently implementing health programs in the State.
