The Honourable Minister of Transportation Senator Sa’idu Ahmed Alkali has visited his Works and Housing counterpart David Umahi, and the State Minister of Works and Housing Bello Goronyo seeking for their intervention in the rehabilitation of Gombe-Kwami-Dukku-Darazo as well as Gombe-Bajoga-Nafada roads under the 2025 Appropriations Act.
This was according to a press statement signed and made available to Jewel Times by the minister on Sunday.
The minister who paid the visit on Friday, said the visit was meant to facilitate the execution of the two road projects to boost trade, commerce and agriculture in Gombe State, North East and Nigeria at large.
Senator Alkali said the visit became necessary in recognition of inadequate budgetary allocations, a development that could hinder the quick execution of the projects in the nearest future.
As he solicited the support of the two ministers in the execution of the road projects, Senator Alkali equally sought the intervention of the National Assembly towards actualization of the road projects.
“Accordingly, I have solicited the support of the two Ministers of Works, David Umahi and Bello Goronyo to assist in prioritizing their execution while I lobby the National Assembly Appropriations Committees to support the Federal Government’s laudable initiative for the projects, whose economic viability in boosting revenue, agricultural output, interstate businesses and welfare of the people cannot be overemphasized”.
The transportation minister added that if the roads are executed, they will not only improve the economy of the North East but equally boost businesses and welfare of the people.
“I have considered it expedient to boldly say that the execution of these projects will not only enhance the potentials of the famous international markets at Dukku, Darazo and Ngalda, but will also consolidate the strategic status of Gombe as the most rapid growing economy in the north east”.
Sa’idu Ahmad Alkali reiterated his commitments in supporting the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Tinubu, which prioritizes the provision of efficient transportation among others as enabler of economic growth and gateway to the nation’s economy.
