The family, political associates, and loyal supporters of the former member House of Representative, representing Gombe Kwami Funakaye Federal Constituency Late Honourable Yaya Bauchi Tango have strongly rejected reports claiming that they have defected to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) or endorsed its gubernatorial candidate in the State, describing the claims as false, misleading, and politically motivated.
In a press statement signed and made available to Jewel Times by the Media Aide to ADC Gubernatorial Candidate on behalf of the family and supporters of the late House of representative member, The group stated that the reports do not represent the position of the late lawmaker’s family, nor the overwhelming majority of his genuine supporters, stressing that no authorised meeting, declaration, or decision has taken place in which they resolved to abandon the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
According to the family and supporters, their political loyalty remains firmly with the ADC, the party and political platform under which the late Yaya Bauchi Tango left them.
They emphasized that his passing has not altered their political conviction or the direction he established with his supporters.
They maintained that the late Yaya Bauchi Tango built strong political relationships and left behind a clear political constituency, adding that his supporters have a responsibility to protect his legacy rather than allow his name to be associated with political decisions he did not make.
The group therefore urged the public to disregard claims suggesting that the late lawmaker’s family or political structure has reached an agreement with the APC or its governorship candidate, describing such reports as an attempt to manufacture a political narrative where none exists.
They further stated that political support cannot be transferred or claimed through rumours, social media publications, or statements issued by individuals acting without the consent of the family and the recognised representatives of Yaya Bauchi Tango’s political structure.
“We want to make our position absolutely clear: the family and genuine supporters of the late Yaya Bauchi Tango remain with the ADC. We have neither defected to the APC nor endorsed its governorship candidate.”
The supporters also reaffirmed their commitment to the ADC Presidential Candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, saying they remain prepared to mobilise their supporters and political networks in support of his presidential ambition in the 2027 general elections.
At the state level, the group declared its unwavering support for the ADC Governorship Candidate, Dr. Bala Bello Tinka, assuring him that the political constituency associated with the late Yaya Bauchi Tango remains committed to the ADC governorship project.
They also pledged their support to all ADC candidates contesting elective positions in the 2027 general elections, stressing that their objective is to contribute to the overall electoral success of the ADC across the state and the country
The family and supporters called on their members and sympathisers across Gombe State to remain calm, united, and vigilant against what they described as attempts to create divisions within their ranks through unverified political claims.
They urged journalists and other media practitioners to uphold the principles of professional journalism by verifying political claims before attributing statements, endorsements, or defections to the family and supporters of the late Yaya Bauchi Tango.
The group also cautioned individuals seeking political relevance through the name of the late lawmaker to desist from making unauthorised claims on behalf of his family or supporters, insisting that the integrity and political legacy of Yaya Bauchi Tango must be respected.
They reaffirmed that the late lawmaker’s supporters will continue to work with the ADC leadership and its candidates while promoting unity, peaceful political participation, and respect for democratic values throughout the 2027 electoral process.
They reiterated their unqualified support for Alhaji Atiku Abubakar for President, Dr. Bala Bello Tinka for Governor of Gombe State, and all ADC candidates, declaring that the political structure and loyal supporters left behind by the late Yaya Bauchi Tango remain firmly committed to the ADC and its electoral objectives.
