…Beneficiaries Salute F4P Project, Assure Of Judicious Use

TEKAN Peace Desk under its Faith for Peace Project (F4P) has trained and empowered 40 youths from six communities in Gombe State across 10 vocations for self-reliance and economic prosperity.
Addressing the trainees during the graduation and distribution of start-up packs to beneficiaries under the Strengthening Socio-economic and Entrepreneurial Development (SEED) program, TEKAN Peace Desk Coordinator Mrs Helen Philimon Haggai, said the beneficiaries were carefully selected to make them self-reliant and beneficial to their families and communities.
“We carefully selected you for these trainings knowing fully well, the economic conditions in Nigeria. One needs not to be told about the economic hardships we go through in this country. Therefore with these trainings and start-up packs, you have gotten the foundation upon which you can grow far and strong to support yourself, your family others around you”.
She said priority is given to women in the selection process, being strong lieutenants to men, and family custodians.
Mrs Haggai encouraged the graduands on careful utilization of the packs and the knowledge gained.
“Let me categorically made it clear that this support from European Union and co, is meant to better your lives, you are not expected to sell any, put it into use and extend the skills and knowledge to those around you”.
While congratulating the graduands for making it up to this feet, the coordinator said they have developed monitoring and evaluation strategies to study the beneficiaries progress in their respective places of business.
Speaking on behalf of the training facilitators, Safiya John and Habu Shehu, said the graduands received intensive trainings that can make them self reliant in their various trades and vocations.
In their contribution on behalf of the beneficiaries, Precious Solomon, Hauwa Hussaini and Iliya Amos appreciated TEKAN Peace Desk for empowering them, assuring to put the knowledge and resources gained into proper use.
“With this intervention from TEKAN Peace, we feel loved, empowered, encouraged and carried along to achieving our life goals. We assure you that we shall continue to learn, train others and put these resources into proper use.
Representatives of faith based organizations Reverend Evans Leviticus from TEKAN ECWA Gombe and Usman Saleh Danburam from Jama’atu Nasril Islam (JNI), encouraged the trainees to imbibe good maintenance culture, as everyone is accountable on what they are entrusted with.
The beneficiaries who were drawn from Ɓilliri, Kalmai, Deba, Kunuwol, Malamsidi and Kwami were trained and supported with start-up packs on Tailoring, Carpentry, Welding, Barbing, Hairdressing, Knitting, Cosmetology, Make-up, Plumbing, and POP.
After the respective six months and a one year intensive trainings, certificates of completion were presented to the beneficiaries during the graduation ceremony.
Faith for Peace Project co-funded by Bread for the World and European Union is being implemented by TEKAN Peace Desk, through which local actors are empowered to promote human rights, peace building and religious tolerance in Nigeria.
