… Beneficiaries Appreciate, Urge Others To Emulate

The Forum of Muslim Nurses and Midwives (FOMNAM) Federal Teaching Hospital Gombe Branch, has organized a one-day medical outreach in Akko Gari, Akko LGA of Gombe State where over 1000 patients were attended to.
Speaking during the medical exercise, the state chairman of the forum, Nurse Adamu Ardo Tilde, said the gesture was meant to support the less privileged access healthcare services at no cost.
He said the “This is part of our annual intervention services in giving back to the society”.
While noting that the outreach is usually being organized to rural and less privileged communities to complement government efforts in the health sector, Adamu Tilde said “FOMNAM services are solely meant for humanity regardless of faith, tribe, gender, social strata or political affiliation”.
He appreciated the state and local government authorities, community, religious and traditional leaders as well as the leadership of the Federal Teaching Hospital Gombe for supporting the forum by providing an enabling and conducive environment that warranted the successful conduct of the outreach.
On his part, the Chairman Local Organizing Committee, Nurse Adamu Abubakar Sadeeq, said “This team comprises of qualified medical doctors, laboratory scientists, pharmacists, health records amongst others, we join efforts to attain the set objectives.
He said the patients majorly complained of common diseases and illnesses like fever, malaria, hypertension, diabetes amongst others.
The chairman noted that the beneficiaries were diagnosed, tested, counselled and supported with drugs, maintaining that “We have provisions for referral for those whose conditions are critical”.
In their goodwill messages, chairman Akko Ward Development Committee Abubakar Yusuf and the representative of the traditional institution Muhammad Saleh, commended FOMNAM for the gesture, describing it as timely and commendable.
While calling on similar groups, forums and associations to borrow leaf from FOMNAM, the community leaders encouraged the forum to sustain the tempo, while assuring it of their continuous support and cooperation.
Some of the beneficiaries Aishatu Abdulkadir, Hannatu Ali, Hauwa’u Abdulmumini Jauro, Mary John and Yakubu Muhammad appreciated the Muslim nurses and midwives for coming to their aid.
They said due to harsh economy, transportation to health facilities has become an issue, talk less of other responsibilities and medical expenses.
While calling on others to copy from FOMNAM, the beneficiaries prayed for God Almighty to reward the forum abundantly.
