The Executive Chairman, Gombe State Urban Planning and Development Authority (GOSUPDA), Alh. Bappayo Samanja Maudo, has received an Award of Excellence from the Voice of Northern Nigeria Students (VONNIS).

VONNIS presented the award in recognition of the Chairman’s transformation agenda, particularly through GOSUPDA, and his enormous support and contributions to Gombe State students.

Speaking during the award ceremony, the Welfare Director of VONNIS, Amina Muhammad Ibrahim, accompanied by the Public Relations Officer (PRO), Zainab Musa Yau, and three other executives, acknowledged the Chairman’s actions and policies since his time serving in the Federal Government of Nigeria before his appointment by Governor Inuwa Yahaya, to serve his state.

She emphasized that his selection was not a coincidence or a mistake, highlighting his achievements in all his previous federal positions before joining GOSUPDA.

“Such dedication and strong character made the Executive Chairman a perfect choice for our esteemed and focused Governor, who always seeks competent individuals to handle his assignments,” she said.

“Your unwavering support for Gombe State students, both in Gombe and Kaduna, will never be forgotten. We will continue to see you as a role model, and Gombe students remain grateful,” she added.

In his response, the Executive Chairman of GOSUPDA, Alh. Bappayo Samanja Maudo, expressed appreciation for the award, saying it is an honor done to him by the students, who represent the future leaders.

He acknowledged receiving many awards during his federal service, but considered this one particularly special because it came from his home state and recognized his selfless service to Gombe.

“This exceptionally special award brings me joy and motivates me to redouble my efforts in making Gombe a model city, which is the ultimate vision of Governor Inuwa Yahaya”, he remarked.

“I dedicate this award to the architect of modern Gombe, His Excellency Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, who is the supporting pillar behind all the successes we have achieved” he added.

The Executive Chairman used the occasion to warn people residing on roads undergoing construction, including Tumfure, against rebuilding their houses after receiving compensation. “This is prohibited until the road construction is finished”, he noted.

The Chairman also issued a strong call to those intending to build or rebuild to approach GOSUPDA and settle all necessary fees for building plan approval and other GOSUPDA charges. He warned against the practice of offering bribes at construction sites, as this is an offense punishable by law.

He appealed to the people of Gombe to continue offering their support and prayers to Inuwa-led administration for more developmental projects.
