Gombe Wins 10th Edition of NILDS Zonal Quiz Competition

Gombe State has emerged winner, at the North East Zonal Quiz Competition organised by the National Institute for Legislative and Democratic Studies (NILDS) in Bauchi.

 

The competition which focuses on politics, aims to engage young students in matters related to the legislature, democracy and governance.

 

Speaking during the competition held at the Education Resource Centre (ERC), Bauchi, NILDS Director General Professor Abubakar Olanrewaju Sulaiman represented by Mr. Jerimier Agadah, explained that the quiz competition was designed to expand students history, practice and procedures.

He said “No doubt, the NILDS quiz championship promotes deeper understanding of Civic, Current Affairs, Communication and Governance”.

 

In his speech, the Bauchi State Commissioner for Education Dr. Muhammad Lawal Rimin-Zayam, represented by the Director Education Resource Centre, Mr. Kabiru Ahmad emphasised the importance of inter states competition for promoting progress, peace and unity among students and teachers, describing the initiative as commendable.

 

Dr. Rimin-Zayam appreciated the commitment of teachers and moderators who coached the students and fully participated for the 10th edition of North East Zonal Quiz Competition.

 

He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to revamping the education sector under Governor Bala Abdulkadir Muhammad’s leadership.

 

Announcing the winner of the 10th edition of NILDS quiz competition, the quiz master Mr. Lucky Tongs, announced Gombe State as the overall winner of the championship.

 

He also announced Taraba State as second while Yobe State clinched the third position. Gombe, the first runner is expected to represent the North East at the national competition to be held in Abuja.

Khadija Yusuf Doma and Maryam Sani Jauro who represented Gombe State at the competition expressed gratitude to God Almighty for the success, assuring to redouble efforts before the national competition.

 

They commended their teachers for giving them the necessary trainings that facilitates Gombe State emergence as winner.

 

Our correspondent Jibrin Hussaini Kundum reported that, students from the six Northeastern states of Bauchi, Borno, Yobe, Gombe, Taraba and Adamawa participated in this year’s NILDS, North East Zonal Quiz Competition.
