… Optimistic In Gov Yahaya For Completion State Secretariat
The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Gombe State Council is planning a special reception in honour of the newly elected National President Alhassan Yahaya Abdullahi, to celebrate his victory being the first to occupy the exalted position from the Northeast.
The union made this known in a communique issued at the end of its congress meeting presided over by the State Council Chairman, Faruk Mu’azu in Gombe.
“Congress in session scheduled to organise a befitting reception in honour of the NUJ National President, Comrade Alhassan Yahaya Abdullahi, following his victory at the 8th Triennial Delegates Conference in Owerri Imo State. The reception is billed for Saturday, 15th February 2025, in Gombe”, the communique announced.
The state congress unanimously commended the interest shown by the Gombe State Government in completing the state NUJ secretariat. It particularly praised the administration for creating an enabling environment for journalists in the state to practice without any hindrances.
The six points communique signed and issued to newsmen by the chairman drafting committee Williams Attah, the secretary Abigail Kolo and the member Muhammad Rabi’u Jibrin, noted that the union has equally resolved the following:
“The congress also commended the Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya led administration over the complete digitisation of the state media outfits (Gombe Media Corporation’s Radio and TV) as well as the transformation taking place in different sectors of the State such as Education, Health, Agriculture, Security, Environment, Water provision, road construction, civil service, social services among many others.
Equally worthy of commendation is the tireless and selfless leadership of the Director General of the Gombe Media Corporation, Mallam Ibrahim Isah, who ensured the installation of state-of-the-art equipment in the stations which are now accessable through the satellite.
The congress also pledged its loyalty as well as reiterated it’s confidence in the leadership of Comrade Alhassan Yahya since assuming duty as president of the union. It praised members’ efforts towards ensuring that the first NUJ President from the Northeast sub-region emerged from Gombe state”.
The union reminded its members of the need to pay their checkoff dues and professional fees between January and June 2025. It encouraged all practising journalists to take the issue with all the seriousness it deserves.
