Gombe NUJ Celebrates Gombe State at 28, Nigeria at 64

October 1, 2024, marks a historic dual celebration for the people of Gombe State and Nigeria. The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Gombe State Council, warmly congratulates the good people of Gombe State and all Nigerians on these significant milestones.

The felicitation was contained in a press statement signed and made available to Jewel Times by the State Council Chairman Comrade Faruk Muazu Gombe.

The statement said “Gombe State, created on October 1, 1996, during General Sani Abacha’s administration, celebrates 28 years of progress and development. We honour the vision and perseverance of its founding fathers”.

The statement further reads “Nigeria, on the other hand, commemorates its 64th Independence Day, marking 64 years since gaining freedom on October 1, 1960. We reflect on our nation’s journey, acknowledging the sacrifices made to achieve independence and the resilience of Nigerians.

We extend heartfelt felicitations to His Excellency, Alhaji Muhammad Inuwa Yahaya, CON, (Dan Majen Gombe), Governor of Gombe State and Chairman, Northern States Governors Forum, His Highness, Alhaji Dr. Abubakar Shehu Abubakar III, the Emir of Gombe and Chairman, Gombe State Council of Emirs and Chiefs, and the entire people of Gombe State and Nigeria at large.

As journalists, we pledge to continue promoting objective reporting, constructive feedback, and national unity.
