Gombe Governor Honours Quran Competition Winners

Gombe State Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya has pledged his administration’s support for initiatives that uplift the state.

The Governor presented a cheque of five million Naira to Hafiza Hajara Ibrahim, the overall winner of the world Quranic recitation competition in Jordan, and another cheque of two million naira to Hafiz Shuaibu Muhammad Nazir, who won the forty Hizb category at the national level in Jos.

Governor Yahaya stated that Gombe residents emerging as champions at both national and international levels is a cause for celebration. He added that this shows the state is on the right path to development, and with continued encouragement, Gombe’s name will remain prominent.

Governor Yahaya commended the performance of both students and assured government support for such endeavors. He highlighted Abubakar Sadiq Islamiyya school, where Hajara Ibrahim studied, and praised their role in her achievement.

Speaking on behalf of the family, Professor Tahir Inuwa described Hajara as an exceptionally talented student who mastered the Quran under five different scholars before competing internationally. Professor Inuwa also expressed appreciation for the Governor’s support for religious activities and his commitment to retired civil servants through gratuity payments.

The event witnessed presentation of cheques to the winners and Abubakar Siddik Islamiyya school, followed by a Quranic recitation by Hafiza Hajara Ibrahim.
