The Gombe State Internal Revenue Service, GIRS, is taking a firm stance against tax evasion, forging a powerful alliance with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to combat corruption and improve revenue collection.

During a courtesy visit to the EFCC zonal office in Gombe, GIRS Executive Chairman Aisha Adamu highlighted the challenges posed by corruption and tax evasion.

She stated that these issues undermine the government’s ability to deliver essential services, such as building new schools, hospitals and road infrastructure.

“This collaboration will go a long way in tackling this challenge, not only benefiting Gombe State but also contributing to the overall development of our dear nation,” Aisha stated.

The EFCC’s Gombe State Zonal Acting Commander, Olusesi Kolawole, welcomed the partnership, highlighting the long-standing, successful collaboration between the two institutions.

Mr Kolawole cited past joint investigations that have yielded positive outcomes. He further assured the GIRS of the EFCC’s continued support in tackling economic sabotage in the state.
