…Plans Double At Next Graduation

The Institute of Health Sciences and Technology, Federal Teaching Hospital Gombe has celebrated the graduation of approximately fifty students from the School of Dispensing Optometry, as recognized by the Optometrist and Dispensing Opticians Registration Board of Nigeria (ODORBN).
During the Orientation and Oath-Taking Ceremony held on the premises of the institute in Gombe, the Registrar ODORBN Dr. Obinna Edwin Awiaka, encouraged the graduates to serve as role models within the health sector.
He urged them to utilize the knowledge gained to become professional health workers, wherever they might found themselves.
Dr. Awiaka commended the Federal Teaching Hospital Gombe for establishing the school, noting that “This institute will serve as valuable resource centre to address shortage of skilled manpower in Gombe State’s health sector”.
In his remarks at the ceremony, the Chief Medical Director of the Federal Teaching Hospital Gombe, Professor Yusuf Muhammad Abdullahi, stated that “All the 50 graduates have acquired essential knowledge and professional training that will equip them to work effectively in various health institutions”.
He charged the graduands to apply the academic training diligently as they perform their duties as trained health workers.
He expressed gratitude to Gombe State Government for providing an enabling environment conducive for learning and training of the students, describing it as crucial in addressing challenges in the health sector.
Speaking on behalf of the graduating students, Hafsat Muhammad Abdullahi expressed heartfelt appreciation to Federal Teaching Hospital Gombe for providing them with the opportunity to become professional health workers in the state.
She called on fellow students to work diligently and inspire others to emulate from their achievements, reaffirming their commitment to contribute positively to the health sector’s progress in the state and Nigeria.
Highlight of the event was the presentation of awards and cash prizes to best performing students.
