Following the recent flooding that affected about 90 households in Jalingon Kamo, Gombe State Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya has directed the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) to present relief materials to the victims.
Presenting the relief items at the Village Head of Jalingo Kamo Palace, the Executive Secretary of SEMA, Alhaji Abdullahi Haruna Abdullahi said the relief which consists of food and non food items was approved by Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya.
Abdullahi Haruna Abdullahi also explained that the agency followed due diligence in assessing and enumeration of the affected persons describing the incident as unfortunate and pathetic.
While conveying the sympathy of Governor Yahaya to the people, Abdullahi noted that the items presented were aimed to relief the suffering of the affected families and not in anyway as compensation of their losses.
In a remark, the member representing Kaltungo East and the Majority Leader of the State House of Assembly Honourable Yerima Ladan Gaule also sympathized with the affected families and assured of government commitment to the wellbeing of the citizenry in all situations.
Honourable Yerima Ladan also called on the people to remain loyal and supportive of the Inuwa Yahaya led administration in its quest to bring development to all parts of the state.
Receiving the materials on behalf of the affected persons the Village Head of Jalingo-Kamo Abdullahi Musa, appreciated Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, the House Member and SEMA for the gesture.
He however appealed to the state government to consider construction of roads to open the area for development and street lights to enhance security of lives and property.
The items presented include bags of rice, Spaghetti, rubber mats, wrappers, children wears among others.
