Bride Poisons Guests in Jigawa, One Dead, Groom Fighting For Life

Posted on January 4, 2025 by Jtimes

A joyous wedding ceremony in Jigawa State took a devastating turn after a bride allegedly poisoned the food served at the reception, leading to the death of one guest and leaving the groom critically ill.

According to a report initially published by Daily Trust, the incident occurred in Jahun Local Government Area and has sent shockwaves across the community.

The Jigawa State Police Public Relations Officer, Shi’isu Adam, confirmed the incident and stated that an investigation is underway. He disclosed that two suspects—the bride and another female—have been arrested and are currently being interrogated by the Criminal Investigation Department.

“We received a report that the bride tainted the food served at the wedding reception, which resulted in the groom being critically ill,” Adam said. He assured the public that the police are committed to ensuring justice is served.

While most of the guests affected by the poisoned food have been discharged from the hospital, one individual tragically lost their life. The identities of the deceased, the groom, and the other victims remain undisclosed as investigations continue.

This shocking incident raises questions about the motives behind the act, with eyewitnesses speculating that it may have been fueled by a personal vendetta.
