Bauchi State Government has directed the immediate removal of billboards, banners, and campaign posters mounted on street lights, poles, and the two major flyovers at Wunti and Central Market within the Bauchi metropolis and other cities across the state.
The directive was given by the Bauchi State Infrastructure Development and Maintenance Agency (BASIDMA), the Bauchi State Physical Planning and Development Board (BSPPDB), the Bauchi State Environmental Protection Agency (BASEPA), and the Bauchi State Road Traffic Agency (BAROTA), shortly after a closed-door meeting with chairmen of political parties in Bauchi.
Speaking on behalf of the agencies, the General Manager of the Bauchi State Physical Planning and Development Board, Town Planner Muhammad Ibrahim, said political parties and their supporters have been given a one-week ultimatum to remove all billboards, banners, and campaign posters mounted on street lights.
The ultimatum takes effect from Thursday, June 4th, to Thursday, June 11, 2026.
He explained that the move is part of the state government’s urban renewal and regulatory clean-up initiative aimed to addressing political thuggery and restoring order in the state.
Muhammad Ibrahim noted that enforcement teams would be forced to pull down any non-compliant billboards, banners, and campaign posters if the directive is not obeyed within the stipulated period.
He urged residents and political party supporters to adhere physical planning guidelines and regulations, particularly those relating to the Right of Way Act.
The General Manager of State Physical Planning and Development, Muhammad Ibrahim, emphasized that protecting citizens and the environment is a collective responsibility and the right of every citizen.
He further charged members of the public to comply with the directive, warning that mobile courts would impose penalties on violators as provided by law.
