…Throws Weight Behind Local Government Financial Autonomy

…Plans to Unveil Northern Children Educational Program

By Saeed Ahmad Bappah, Gombe

An elder statesman and APC Stakeholder, who also doubles as Chairman of the North East Cooperatives Stakeholders Forum, Abdullahi Jalo, has made an appeal to the NNPCL, under the leadership of GMD Mele Kyari, to consider revisiting the Kaduna Refinery for onward distribution of PMS to the region.

Abdullahi Jalo made the appeal during an interactive session with journalists in Gombe.

Jalo emphasized the need to consider the revival of the Kaduna Refinery alongside the federal government’s efforts to rehabilitate refineries in the South, specifically Port Harcourt and Warri.

“A functioning Kaduna Refinery would not only service the Northern region but also stimulate economic growth in the North”, he explained.

He also passionately appealed for the continuation of oil exploration in Kolmani, Gombe, and Nasarawa State, as Mr. President promised during the electioneering campaign.

The APC stakeholder announced that the North East Cooperatives Stakeholders Forum, under his leadership, will soon unveil a plan to enroll children aged three to four years in school.

“The aim of this initiative is to deter children from being indoctrinated by Boko Haram and other criminal groups”, he noted.

Expressing his support for local government autonomy, Abdullahi Jalo affirmed his alignment with the Supreme Court’s judgment granting full financial autonomy to all Local Governments in Nigeria.

He emphasized that this autonomy would significantly improve the lives of rural communities and bolster efforts to combat insecurity.

Jalo’s disposition underscores the pressing need for intensified efforts from all levels of government to address the multifaceted challenges facing the North and the nation as a whole, emphasizing the critical role of collaborative action and inclusive policies in fostering sustainable development, improving security, and enhancing the well-being of all Nigerians.
