28th Gombe Qur’anic Recitation Competition Kick Starts in Kaltungo

…As Gov Yahaya Praises JIBWIS for Value Reorientation

 

The 28th session of the Gombe State Annual Qur’anic Recitation Competition organized by the Jama’atu Izalatil Bid’ah wa Iqamatis Sunnah (JIBWIS) has opened in Kaltungo Local Government Area of the State.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Gombe State Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya represented by the Secretary to the State Government Professor Ibrahim Abubakar Njodi stressed the need for Qur’anic recitation to go side by side with western education to guarantee a complete circle of a prosperous future.

 

A statement signed and made available to Jewel Times by the Information Officer SSG’s Office Joshua ĆŠanmalam said Governor Inuwa Yahaya congratulated the participants for their eligibility to participate in the competition calling on the judges to be objective in their sense of judgement and selection of the winners.

The Gombe State Governor further commended JIBWIS for its efforts towards value reorientation calling on the group not to relent in organizing programs and forums aim at promoting behavioral change.

 

On the restrictions of motorcycle in Gombe metropolis from 7pm to 6am, the Governor remarked that the action was taken to checkmate crime and criminality which has become a reoccurring decimal in the state capital and environs.

While speaking on the creation of 13 Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs) the Governor appealed for understanding among the citizens of the state, stressing the impracticality of all constituencies in the state to be designated as council development areas.

 

He equally called on the citizens of the state to take special interest in the ongoing Continuous Voters Registration (CVR) describing it as important weapon towards the election of credible leadership.

The representative of the Gombe State Governor had on the conclusion of his address made a personal donation of the sum of N500 thousand naira.

 

Earlier speaking the Chairman Kaltungo Local Government Area Dr Iliya Suleiman remarked that the council is happy to host the 28th session of the State Qur’anic Recitation Competition.

He said any gathering that brings development and tilt towards value reorientation, the council will not hesitate to welcome and support it for the greater good of the people.

 

Dr Iliya Suleiman appealed to religious groups to sustain prayers for the nation leaders, praising the contributions of religious organizations towards the maintenance of peace in the country.

Over 150 participants are expected to take part in the Qur’anic recitation competition designed in different categories.

 

Winners at the state level will transition to the zonal and national should they maintain their winning streak.

 

The competition is aimed at grooming the young individuals on the importance of reciting the Glorious Quran while dis-abusing their minds from indulging in behaviors capable of tarnishing their image and destroying their future.
