The General Manager of Yankari Express Corporation Bauchi, Engineer Babaji Isah Yunusa, has appealed to the State Government to construct passenger lodges within the park to accommodate travelers who may need to break their journey.
During an interview with journalists in his office, Yunusa said the call is imperative noting that Bauchi State is a gateway to the Northeast zone.
He said modernizing the Yankari Express Corporation will cater for passengers from states particularly Borno, Adamawa, and Taraba who travel to the South Eastern States.
He urged the state government, through the Ministry of Works and Transport, to provide modern vehicles, particularly Peugeot models 406, 306, and Sharon Seana, to promote public transportation in the state.
Yunusa also advised the public to book directly at the motor park’s booking office when sending products to other states to avoid misplacement.
Babaji Isah said since taking office as General Manager, he improved staff welfare, renovated office accommodations, and beautified the park’s surroundings.
It could recalled that Yankari Express Corporation was established during the Abubakar Tatari Ali regime from 1979 to 1983, the park is dilapidated before the state government handover the express corporation to the Ministry of Works and Transportation in 2024.
