Umar Faruk FK Defects to APC, Cites Confidence in Gov. Inuwa’s Leadership

The ranks of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Gombe State have continued to thin out as another prominent figure, Umar Faruk FK, has defected to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) with his supporters.

The development comes just days after Haruna Jonga, a former Director-General of Security in the administration of ex-Governor Ibrahim Dankwambo, also left the PDP for the APC.

Announcing his defection, Umar FK said he no longer had faith in the PDP’s capacity to deliver meaningful development in the state.

He commended Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya for what he described as purposeful and visionary leadership, particularly through projects that have transformed communities across Gombe.

“Only those without the interest of Gombe at heart will fail to acknowledge Governor Inuwa’s achievements. My supporters and I have therefore resolved to align fully with his administration, and we will support his senatorial ambition for Gombe North in 2027,” Umar FK declared.

Welcoming the defector, Chairman of Gombe Local Government, Barrister Sani Ahmad Haruna, assured Umar FK and his supporters that Governor Inuwa was delighted by their decision to join the APC.

Also speaking, APC Chairman in Gombe Local Government, Alhaji Abubakar Danladi, described Umar FK as a formidable political force in Herwagana.

He said the defection was a significant boost to the ruling party, noting that Umar FK had previously been one of the APC’s strongest challengers in the area.
