Pupils of Tashan Durumi Primary School in Toro Local Government Area of Bauchi State have faced series of challenges due to lack of maintenance of teaching facilities and commitment of teachers during school hours.
Our correspondent, observed this when the monitoring team from the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), inspected various schools of the Bauchi South Senatorial District for 2025/2026, first term schools resumption.
The Executive Chairman of SUBEB, Alhaji Adamu Muhammad Duguri, who led the team, expressed dismay over the situation and the negative attitude of late coming by some teachers.
He noted that the Bauchi State Government, under the leadership of Governor Bala Abdulkadir Muhammad, would not tolerate such misconduct on duty.
Alhaji Adamu Duguri maintained that the exercise was a routine monitoring of schools to ascertain the learning process of both teachers and students, with the aim of improving retention and enrollment of students in public schools.
At Central Primary and Junior Secondary School Magama Gumau, the SUBEB Boss expressed satisfaction with the students’ enrollment and the community’s effort in renovating a block of classrooms in the school.
The Chairman of SUBEB also directed the Education Secretary of Toro Local Education Authority, Mallam Nasiru Muhammad Fanti, to write a recommendation letter to the school management for their dedication to assigned responsibilities.
Some of the schools visited include Tashan Durumi Primary School, Wom Primary School, Zaranda Primary and Upper Basic, Central Primary School Nabardo, Rimin-Zayam Primary School, and Central Primary and Junior Secondary School Magama Gumau, all in Toro Local Government Area.
To this end, the SUBEB Monitoring Team also paid courtesy visits to the Chairman of Toro LGA, Pharmacist Ibrahim Abubakar Dembo, and the District Head of Toro, Alhaji Umar Adamu, to inform them about the situation in the schools visited earlier.
