The New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) in Gombe State has withdrawn its earlier commitments to participate in the Saturday’s local government councils elections.
Speaking during the presentation of flags to its chairmanship and councillorship candidates in Gombe, the State Party Chairman Barrister Rambi Ibrahim Ayala, said NNPP has decided to withdraw participation unless and until there is constitutional amendments for local government councils autonomy; and INECÂ given the right to conduct local government councils elections.
He said they equally decided not to participate in this election due to obvious reasons that the ruling party and the state electoral commission have shown no commitment to conduct the election in the State.
Rambi alleged that the ruling party has severally made it clear that the election is definitely going to be won by its candidates.
The chairman added that the party has made some changes to its flag and logo for easy identification by the electorates.
Barrister Rambi appreciated the party’s candidate for their courage to represent the party in various political races.
In his address, the party leader and gubernatorial candidate in the 2023 general elections Hon. Khamisu Ahmad Mailantarki, expressed confidence that with its structures fully in place across the 114 wards of the state, NNPP will definitely win the elections if conducted.
While encouraging members on unity, patriotism and commitment, Mailantarki assured that the party is in the better position to constitute the next government in the state.
He commended the party’s national leader Engineer Dr Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso for his doggedness in ensuring NNPP became the political focus of Nigeria.
Speaking on behalf of the candidates, Gombe Local Government candidate Adamu Babale Makera expressed support for the party’s stand.
