The Nigerian in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM) has called on Nigerians to prioritize promoting Diaspora Investment in North East Nigeria, rather than exporting commodities and living outside the country.
Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of NIDCOM’s Dr. Abike Dabire Erewa made the appeal during a two-day workshop on Sensitization and Advocacy Program for Promoting Dispora Investment Potentials in Northeast Nigeria, that took place at Command Guest in Bauchi.
The Sensitization Program was organized by Stage by Stage Project in conjunction with NIDCOM and Bauchi State Government.
Dr. Dabiri-Erewa emphasized the significance of promoting Diaspora Investment, highlighting NIDCOM’s efforts over the past six years to resolve and advocate for Nigerians in the diaspora.
The NIDCOM Chairman represented by Secretary of the Commission, Engineer Sule Yakubu Bassey noted that the commission has recorded over 20 million Nigerians in the diaspora and urged them to contribute to the country’s rapid development.
In his remarks during the workshop, The Bauchi State Governor, Bala Abdulkadir Mohammad represented by State Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning Hajiya Amina Muhammad Katagum, reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to addressing the needs of Nigerians in the diaspora.
He highlighted the state’s open-door policies, which aim to create job opportunities and promote Diaspora Investment Potentials.
Governor Bala Muhammad also commended the efforts Nigerian In Dispora Commission (NIDCOM) for choosing Bauchi State to hosting the workshop in Northeastern States of Nigeria, called on the participants to take advantage of the sensitization and Advocacy Program towards promoting Dispora Investment Potentials in their respectively areas.
NIDCOM’s efforts to promote Diaspora Investment are part of its broader mission to engage Nigerians in the diaspora in the country’s development.
