The Islamic Medical Association of Nigeria (IMAN) Gombe State Branch, has organized a free medical outreach for 1000 patients in Gombe.
Speaking to newsmen during the outreach at the newly equipped medical home off Dukku Motor Park along Dukku Road, chairman of the outreach committee Dr Danimoh Mustapha Abdussalam, said the free medical outreach which marks the official commissioning the medical home, was meant to support the less privileged considering the current economic realities.
Dr Mustapha said the free outreach has targeted patients between 500-1000 who were diagnosed on disease and illnesses like Malaria, Typhoid, common cold and fever, hypertension, ulcer as well as illnesses of the eye, ear, teeth, throat amongst others.
He said those who were found with complications beyond medical support, will be referred for surgical operations in a later date.
Speaking on the newly commissioned health facility, the chairman said the medical home was equipped with modern facilities to cater for different categories of patients.
He said services at the facility are subsidized to support the less privileged, to allow them access medical services at affordable rate.
Dr Mustapha added that IMAN members contribute from their monthly salaries for the upkeep and management of the hospital, organizing medical outreaches and other medical services and support for indigent patients.
In a goodwill message on behalf of the traditional institution, the Ward Head of London Mai Ɗorawa Alhaji Musa Shehu, commended IMAN for the gesture, describing it as apt and timely.
He encouraged people of the state to patronize services of the medical home, especially considering its affordability and efficiency.
Speaking to newsmen on behalf of beneficiaries of the free medical outreach, Jibril Usman Mika’il and Maimuna Abdullahi, expressed gratitude and appreciations to IMAN, praying for God Almighty to guide and reward the association abundantly.
They said they were diagnosed and offered free drugs, calling on other groups and associations to follow suit.
