The Gombe State Commissioner for Health Dr Habu Ɗahiru has charged the leadership of the Islamic Medical Association of Nigeria (IMAN) Gombe State Branch to support and groom young Muslims into various medical fields to cater for the ever increasing needs for medical services in the state.

The commissioner gave the charge while commissioning IMAN State Secretariat near Wuro Juli Water Reservoir along Gombe Southern Bypass.

Dr Ɗahiru said “With increasing population of the state, there is more need for man power across every field in the medical profession, hence the need for IMAN to guide and encourage our younger generation to partake in medical studies across the board”.

The commissioner equally tasked the association to expand its horizons beyond the 24 health facilities having its membership, especially to privately owned health facilities and organizations with registered health professionals.

Dr Ɗahiru commended IMAN for raising the secretariat to completion, assuring of the state government’s commitments to support the association wherever possible.

He equally charged the IMAN to ensure its medical home, now specialist hospital along Dukku Road is fully equipped with modern and sophisticated equipment and qualified manpower worthy of a specialist health facility.

Earlier in his opening remark, the State Ameer of the association, Muhammad Nasir Ishaq, said the journey for the secretariat started from 2012, expressing gratitude to Almighty Allah for its successful completion.

The Ameer appreciated members of the association for their usual cooperation and support towards the actualization of the project, and the proper upkeep of its specialist hospital along Dukku Road.

During the commissioning ceremony, three personalities were recognized with special honorary awards of membership for their immense contributions to the progress of IMAN.

Shortly after the commissioning of the new secretariat, the association conducted its Annual General Meeting.
