A civil advocacy group, Bauchi People’s Advocate for Good Governance, has issued a strong rebuttal to recent allegations made by Abdullahi Ishaq Jibrin, a dismissed staff of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), describing them as false, malicious, and politically motivated.
In a press statement signed by the group’s spokesperson Aliyu Musa, the organization accused Jibrin of launching a smear campaign against retired Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG) Ahmed Abdulrahman, whom they described as an “Islamic scholar, philanthropist, and respected former law enforcement leader.”
“The allegations by Abdullahi Ishaq Jibrin are not only unfounded but represent a desperate attempt to defame the hard-earned reputation of AIG Abdulrahman (rtd),” the statement reads.
“We categorically deny all the claims, including the laughable assertion that there was an abuse of office to investigate the Governor of Bauchi State”, it added.
According to the group, Jibrin’s assertion that he served as Personal Assistant to the retired AIG for 17 to 20 years is “an outright lie,” adding that official records show he only worked with the former police chief for two years.
“During those two years, he benefitted immensely from the AIG’s generosity, mentorship, and financial support,” Musa said. “His claim that the AIG is pursuing some underground political agenda is pure fantasy, lacking any iota of evidence.”
The group further alleged that Jibrin was dismissed from the EFCC after an internal investigation uncovered his involvement in extortion, including receiving money and a car from individuals under investigation. According to them, it was AIG Abdulrahman who initiated the probe that led to Jibrin’s sack.
“This speaks volumes about the integrity of the AIG,” Musa noted. “Unlike Jibrin, whose record reeks of misconduct, AIG Abdulrahman has always stood for accountability and justice.”
In addition to corruption allegations, the group also accused Jibrin of making false claims about receiving elite training from the FBI, describing such statements as “laughable and without merit.”
Musa further detailed instances of financial support provided by the retired AIG to Jibrin, including two separate ₦200,000 grants for relocation to Bauchi and funding for a pharmacy business that reportedly failed due to mismanagement.
“Unfortunately, rather than showing gratitude, Jibrin has chosen the path of betrayal,” the group said. “He is now weaponizing his past association with the AIG to peddle lies and stir public confusion.”
Challenging Jibrin to substantiate his claims, the group demanded he produce evidence such as appointment letters, training certificates, and credible witnesses. “Until he does that, the public should dismiss his outbursts as reckless fiction,” Musa said.
The group also disclosed that it has commenced legal action against Jibrin for criminal defamation, fraudulent misrepresentation, and attempted extortion, warning the public and media outlets to disregard his allegations.
“We will not sit back while a disgraced former official tarnishes the image of one of our most respected sons,” Musa concluded. “AIG Abdulrahman’s legacy of public service, community development, and religious scholarship remains intact and will not be derailed by the lies of a desperate man.”
