…Commit to Restore Gombe Master Plan

The Gombe State Urban Planning and Development Authority (GOSUPDA) has intensified its enforcement activities with the demolition of several illegally erected structures along Old Mile Three and other parts of Gombe Metropolis.
The exercise followed a series of demolition notices and warnings issued to owners of the affected structures, urging them to comply with urban planning regulations and remove the illegal developments.
Speaking during the exercise, the Executive Chairman of the authority Alhaji Bappayo Samanja Maudo (Turaki Babba of Gombe) explained that the action forms part of ongoing efforts to restore order in the state capital, ensure compliance with approved building regulations, and promote sustainable urban development.
Among the structures demolished were commercial shops located in front of the Gombe Media Corporation, which had reportedly been erected without proper approval for over a decade.
The agency noted that “the structures encroached on designated public spaces and violated existing development guidelines”.
Also affected were one suya spot and several business premises illegally constructed around Jiyamare Suites in the old Mile Three area of Gombe Metropolis.
According to GOSUPDA boss, “these structures were erected without the necessary planning permits and posed challenges to the city’s physical development plan”.
The authority reaffirmed its commitment to removing all illegal structures across the state and warned residents, developers, and business owners against embarking on any construction project without obtaining the required approvals.
The authority further urged members of the public to cooperate with the agency by adhering to urban planning regulations, stressing that only structures with valid approvals would be allowed to remain.
The agency maintained that the enforcement exercise is aimed at creating a more organized, safer, and aesthetically pleasing environment for residents of Gombe State.
