…Says Foundation’s Activities In Line With Governor Yahaya’s Friendly Approach To Environment

The Secretary to the Gombe State Government Professor Ibrahim Abubakar Njodi has challenged the Green Climate Foundation not to relent on its efforts to save the environment from the dangers of climate change occasioned by human activities.

A press statement signed and made available to Jewel Times by the Information Officer SSG’s Office Joshua Ɗanmalam said Professor Njodi stated this when he granted audience to the foundation, committed to fighting environmental depredation through advocacy and on the field action.

The Secretary to the Gombe State Government noted with concern how some plants and animals have disappeared from the face of the earth due to human activities that runs contrary to the welfare and wellbeing of the environment.

He explains that the environment is at a precarious situation demanding the intervention of individuals and organisations such as the Green Climate Foundation in order to save it from the challenges of climate change.

Professor Ibrahim Abubakar Njodi remarked that the administration of Governor Inuwa Yahaya is committed to environmental restoration to defusing the dangers posed by climate change.

He noted that “The Gombe Goes Green Initiatives and the award of multi billion naira contracts for the control of deadly gullies within the state speaks of Governor Inuwa Yahaya’s unwavering commitment to address challenges confronting the environment”.

On the foundation request for support from the State Government, the SSG assured of support directing the CEO to write formally through his office for government consideration

Earlier speaking the Chief Executive Officer Green Climate Foundation Ibrahim Mu’azzam said the organization was established some four years ago to compliment Government efforts towards tackling challenges confronting the environment.

He describe the administration of Governor Inuwa Yahaya as environment friendly in view of its obvious policies aimed at saving the dying earth.

“We are no strangers to Governor Inuwa Yahaya’s Gombe Goes Green Initiative and his rare political will to award contracts for the control of monstrous gullies within the state”.

He informed the SSG of the foundation’s objectives to include; sensitization campaigns on felling of trees, poor waste management among others, adding that as a foundation, they had planted trees on at least 30 hectares of land in Gombe Kaltungo and Billiri LGAs.

Highlight of the visit was the conferment on the SSG as the patron of the foundation.
