The Secretary to the Gombe State Government, Professor Ibrahim Abubakar Njodi, has criticized the work ethic of staff at the Gombe State Liaison Office in Kaduna, describing their attitude as “unbecoming” and warning against institutional redundancy.
A press statement signed and made available to Jewel Times by the Information Officer SSGs Office Joshua Danmalam said Professor Njodi issued the warning during an interactive visit to assess the state of facilities at the liaison office, conducted on the sidelines of the Annual General Meeting of the New Nigerian Development Company Limited in Kaduna.
“On no account should any member of staff in the liaison office display a nonchalant attitude towards government business, as gone are the days when civil servants receive salaries on the account of little or no productivity,” Professor Njodi stated.
He emphasized that the administration of Governor Inuwa Yahaya maintains a strict zero-tolerance policy toward absenteeism, truancy, and the flagrant abuse of civil service rules.
To enforce accountability, the SSG directed every staff member to submit an individual job description to his office on or before the close of business on Friday.
The state’s chief scribe assured to look into how the state government could quickly come in to provide a new face for the facility.
Earlier, the Acting Liaison Officer, Bilhatu Benjamin Latile, welcomed the SSG and noted that the facility, which houses 13 staff members is divided into a guest house, office accommodations, and staff quarters.
She appealed to the state government to approve a comprehensive overhaul to give the liaison office a much-needed facelift.
