…As TSC Reiterate Commitment to Fulfilling Mandate
The Secretary to the Gombe State Government Professor Ibrahim Abubakar Njoɗi has advocated for a framework that mandates the training and re-training of teachers within the ranks of primary and post primary schools.
Professor Ibrahim Njodi gave this indication when he received the Chairman and members of the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) led by its chairperson Na’omi Philip Maiguwa in his office.
The Secretary to the State Government who himself was an educationist stressed that teachers and prospective teachers need all the supports and encouragement of government at all levels recalling with nostalgia how the Nigerian government once stood as a pillar of solidarity to students studying education related courses in the country.
“At the moment the standard of education in Nigeria has hit rock bottom due to government and individual factors. There is no deliberate plan to encourage teaching, that is why the administration of Governor Inuwa Yahaya on coming to office constructed Teachers Training Institute in Kwami to institutionalize training and re-training of teachers within the state”.
A statement signed and made available to Jewel Times by the Information Officer SSG’s Office Joshua Ɗanmalam said “Professor Njoɗi appealed to government at all levels and stakeholders to be deliberate on restoring the past glory of education in Nigeria by prioritizing and insisting on indicators that encourages effective teaching and learning”.
The Secretary to the Gombe State Government described the recent signing into law, a bill for the creation of 13 Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs) by Governor Inuwa Yahaya as another bold initiative by the governor to enhance the delivery of education at grassroot among other sundry areas.
He commended the Gombe State Teacher Service Commission (TSC) under the leadership of Na’omi Maiguwa for justifying the confidence reposed in them by the governor.
Earlier speaking the chairperson Gombe State Teachers Service Commission (TSC) Na’omi Maiguwa said they were at the SSG’s Office to express their gratitude to Governor Inuwa Yahaya for reappointing them to serve the state through the commission.
She expressed readiness and commitment of the TSC to work within the framework establishing it which is to recruit and to build a sound and responsive teachers workforce in the state.
Maiguwa used the visit to congratulate Governor Inuwa Yahaya for rescuing the education sector in the state from free for all falls, describing the state of emergency declared by the governor on coming to office as the instrumental and the magic wand.
She equally commended Governor Yahaya’s foresight for the recent signing of the bill for the creation of LCDAs in state noting that it will bring development closer to the people at the grassroots.
While appreciating the state governor for his passion for education in the state, she commended him for approving the recruitment of 1000 teacher’s among others interventions in the educational sector appealing on the need for the recruitment of more teachers to closed the existing gaps of teachers who have exited the service.
