The Gombe State Police Command has paraded 14 suspects over various offenses to include adulteration of fertilizer and dry okra, homosexuality, criminal conspiracy, theft and vandalization of public property.

Parading the suspects to newsmen on behalf of the State Commissioner of Police CP Hayatu Usman, the command’s Public Relations Officer ASP Buhari Abdullahi, said the command has arrested three suspects; Abubakar Sadiq 58, Ahmadu Abdullahi 55 and Hamisu Hassan 48 for selling 27 bags of adulterated NPK Golden Fertilizer to unsuspecting members of the society in Kumo, at the cost of 540 thousand, which was later discovered was mixed with soil.

ASP Buhari said another set of three suspects; Saleh Sahabi 39, Ɗahiru Yahaya 40 and Hassan Abdullahi also 40 were arrested in Daɗinkowa, Yamaltu Deba Local Government for mixing dry okro with other substances suspected to be wood dust, and selling it for public consumption.

While noting that the suspects have confessed to the crime, the PPRO said “Subsequently, the dry okra powder with other substances were recovered as exhibit and a sample was sent to Standard Organization of Nigeria (SON) for examination and analysis.

The police image maker equally presented two; Hassan Abubakar 25 and Jibrin Ibrahim 22, all of Kanbariki Quarters Kumo, Akko Local Government for allegedly engaging in homosexual affairs.

“One of the suspects Jibrin Ibrahim voluntarily stated that Hassan Abubakar promised to give him the sum of ₦15,000 immediately after they finish the act. After he succeeded in having anal intercourse of him, Hassan denied giving Jibrin the money”.

He added that the police command equally arrested two suspects Mohammed Haruna 30 and Kabiru Ismail 26, all of Potiskum Local Government Area of Yobe State, who were accused of vandalizing six electric cables linking Sorodo Village along Wawa Road, Birin Fulani, in Nafada Local Government Area of Gombe State.

The police command equally arrested one Absolom Akwara 50, a staff of the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security Gombe Branch together with three others for alleged stealing, selling and buying of stanchion stand over tank and barbwire, of government grazing reserve Chilo, Akko LGA.

Buhari Abdullahi noted that upon completion of investigation, the suspects will be charged to court for prosecution.

He appealed to good citizens in the state on behalf of Gombe State Police Commissioner CP Hayatu Usman, to freely report any suspicious move around, to help the police tame crimes and criminality in the bud.
