The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Gombe State Command, has passed out 66 private guards from 16 private guard companies operating in the state.
This followed a two weeks training drill that covered rigorous and extensive topics to ensure the guards are well-prepared for their duties.
In his welcome address, the Head of Private Guard Companies, Deputy Commandant of Corps DCC Otaru Jimoh, briefed the Commandant on the activities carried out during the training. He highlighted the importance of professionalism and adherence to standards in the private security sector.
The Head of Training and Manpower Development, Deputy Commandant of Corps DCC Mannir Mohammed, emphasized the need for the trained guards to be dedicated to their duties and to exhibit professionalism in their assignments. He encouraged them to be vigilant and to uphold the values of the corps in their services.
In a goodwill message, the Gombe State Chairman of the Association of Licensed Private Security Practitioners of Nigeria (ALPSN), Abubakar Sambo represented by ASP John Audu Retired), expressed gratitude to the state commandant for his unwavering support towards ensuring standard training for private guards in the state.
He also appreciated the commitment of the Head of Private Guards Department DCC Otaru Jimoh, to the development of private guard companies.
Addressing the newly passed-out guards, the State Commandant, CC Jibrin Idris, congratulated them on completing the intensive training.
He stressed the critical role private guards play in national security, particularly in protecting lives, properties, critical infrastructure, and institutions across the state.
CC Idris urged the guards to maintain discipline and professionalism instilled during their training and to act as ambassadors of safety in their communities.
CC Idris also extended his appreciation to the Commandant General, Professor Ahmed Abubakar Audi for his continued efforts in regulating and standardizing private guard companies across Nigeria.
He advised the newly trained guards to remain focused, disciplined, and loyal to their employers while upholding the highest standards of professionalism in their duties.
CC Idris appreciated the officers and personnel of the corps, particularly those in the Private Guard Companies Department, for their efforts in facilitating the training.
