Gombe NSCDC on Security Assessment Tour to Dadinkowa Dam, Calls for Multi-stakeholder Synergy

The Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Gombe State Command, Commandant Jibrin Idris, has undertaken a visit to the DaÉ—inkowa Dam, a critical national asset located in Yamaltu Deba Local Government Area of the state.

This visit is sequel to the directives to ensure adequate protection of Critical National Assets And Infrastructure (CNAI).

Upon arrival, Commandant Idris was received and briefed on the security vulnerabilities and needs of the dam by Engr. Kabir Adam, Chief Technical Officer of Mabon Ltd, the company in charge of the hydro power plant.

The Commandant subsequently undertook a guided tour of the plant and the General Area of the entire dam, where he took security briefs from Mr. Peter Balami, Chief Security Officer (CSO) of Mabon Ltd, Ibrahim Sadiq, Dam Manager, and Isa Mohammed Admin Manager of Upper Benue River Basin Development Authority (UBRDA) Dadinkowa.

A statement signed and made available to Jewel Times by the corps Public Relations Officer SC Buhari Saad on behalf of the commandant, said during the visit, Commandant Idris emphasized the importance of protecting critical national assets, both public and private, and highlighted the detrimental effects of scavenging and vandalism on these assets.

As part of the visit, Commandant Idris also paid a courtesy/advocacy visit to the Emir of Yamaltu, Alh Abubakar Aliyu, at his Palace, where he enumerated the importance of protecting critical national assets both public and private.

He further detailed how scavenging and vandalism ruined the assets. Commandant Jibrin sought for the monarch’s involvement in sensitizing the people against vandalism, emphasizing the important role traditional institutions play in conjunction with security agencies, thereby creating a multifaceted strategy that goes beyond mere law enforcement, providing a deepened culture of accountability for collective responsibility that safeguards critical national assets and infrastructure.
