“We are Planning to Construct Council of Emirs and Chiefs Building” – DG GJPDA, Mahmood Yusuf

Gombe State is witnessing an infrastructural transformation driven by the collaborative efforts of the Gombe State Joint Projects Development Agency (GJPDA) and local governments.
This partnership model, characterized by shared funding and a commitment to inclusive development, is bringing tangible improvements to communities across the state.
During a recent inspection visit to Billiri Local Government, the Director General of the GJPDA, Builder Mahmood Yusuf, witnessed firsthand the impact of these collaborative efforts.
He oversaw the progress of several key projects, including the rebuilding of the Kantoma market, the fencing of the grain market, the construction of a new police outpost in Amtawalam, and the reconstruction of the Sansani Gada uku bridge.
“Our approach to project implementation is collaborative. When a local government identifies a crucial project, they present a proposal. The Joint Projects Development Agency then partners with them, providing the necessary funding and overseeing the project’s execution to ensure its successful completion”, Builder Mahmood clarified.
This collaborative model has significantly transformed the landscape of local government infrastructure across Gombe State.** For instance, the Akko and Shongom Local Government Secretariats are undergoing renovations, while Nafada is constructing a brand new two-story secretariat building – a significant upgrade after 28 years.
The Director-General further highlighted the Agency’s commitment to innovative and impactful projects, such as the construction of two-bedroom flats in every emirate and district head’s residence across the state.
“Sustainability is a core principle of our operations. All our projects prioritize environmentally friendly materials, such as iron roofing, and we actively promote the adoption of renewable energy sources, such as solar power, across all local government areas”, Builder Mahmood emphasized.
Underscoring the commitment to enhancing governance, the Agency is currently planning the construction of a dedicated Council of Emirs and Chiefs building, a project approved by Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya at the request of all local government chairmen.
This modern complex will provide a comfortable and conducive environment for the traditional rulers to meet and deliberate during their visits to Gombe, fostering improved governance and enhancing their administrative capabilities.
The GJPDA represents a transformative model for development in Gombe State, where local governments and the state government partner to execute key projects through shared funding mechanisms, ensuring inclusive and comprehensive development across the state.
