The Government of Gombe State has officially ratified the 2025-2027 UNICEF Workplan, reaffirming its unwavering commitment to the advancement of healthcare, education, and child protection across the state.
The Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning, Alhaji Salihu Baba Alkali, signed the agreement on behalf of the state government in compliance with the directive of Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya.
Alhaji Alkali underscored that this meticulously harmonized three-year workplan, formulated in collaboration with UNICEF, delineates strategic interventions designed to elevate the well-being of children and vulnerable demographics within Gombe State.
He further disclosed that the total financial outlay for this transformative initiative amounts to 4,103,300 dollars, with 1,449,497 dollars already secured, while efforts are underway to mobilize the remaining 2 million dollars.
Reflecting on the tangible progress achieved through UNICEF’s longstanding partnership with the state, Alhaji Alkali emphasized that the newly adopted workplan prioritizes key sectors, including healthcare, child protection, social policy, and behavioral transformation.
During the signing ceremony, Dr. Nuzhat Rafique, UNICEF’s Chief of Field Office in Bauchi, extolled the visionary leadership of Governor Inuwa Yahaya, recognizing his administration’s steadfast dedication to child welfare and development.
Dr. Rafique reiterated UNICEF’s enduring commitment to ensuring equitable access to essential services for every child, leaving no one behind.
In his remarks, the Special Adviser on Donor/Development Partners Coordination, Dr. Isiaku Babayo commended UNICEF for its invaluable contributions to critical sectors such as health, education, water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) in Gombe State.
Dr. Babayo expressed confidence in the seamless execution of the work plan, reaffirming the state government’s resolute to fortify its collaboration with UNICEF in pursuit of a brighter future for the children of Gombe state.
