The race for the Gombe State Government House gained significant momentum as the State Accountant General, Dr. Aminu Umar Yuguda, formally declared his intention to contest the 2027 governorship election under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Addressing the party leadership and a sea of enthusiastic supporters, Dr. Yuguda emphasized that his vision for the state is rooted in the preservation and expansion of the current administration’s legacy.
He noted that his tenure as the State Accountant General has provided him with a front-row seat to the developmental strides of the incumbent governor, which he intends to safeguard.
“My mission is to ensure a seamless transition of progress,” Dr. Yuguda stated. “I am committed to aligning with the remarkable achievements of Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya to ensure continuity and the sustained prosperity of Gombe State.”
He further remarked that his deep understanding of the state’s fiscal landscape and administrative machinery would be instrumental in navigating the challenges of governance while delivering tangible results for the citizenry.
Receiving the letter of intent, the Gombe State APC Chairman, Hon. Mohammed Dantata Ndus, commended the aspirant for his decorum and the organized nature of his supporters.
The Chairman moved to dispel any concerns regarding favoritism, promising that the party would remain an impartial arbiter throughout the primary process.
“The APC remains a house of justice,” Ndus assured the delegation. “We will provide a level playing field for all aspirants to ensure that fairness and the democratic will of our party members prevail.”
Accompanied by a massive procession of party elders, political associates, and grassroots supporters, Dr. Yuguda visited the Gombe Local Government APC Secretariat before proceeding to the state party headquarters to submit his letter of intent.
The event, characterized by a heavy presence of key political stakeholders, brought sections of the state capital to a standstill as supporters marched through major roads in a show of force that observers have labeled a significant early litmus test for the aspirant’s popularity.
The declaration has sparked early conversations within the APC regarding the party’s succession plan as the 2027 electoral cycle begins to take shape.
The inclusion of high-ranking political figures in Dr. Yuguda’s entourage suggested a growing consensus among certain influential blocs within the party.
