In a straight move to celebrating the 2024 World Breast Cancer Day, The Emir of Ningi Alhaji Haruna Muhammadu Ɗanyaya has charged Healthy Individuals, NGOs and other stakeholders to support the health status of rural women especially the vulnerable and widows for improved living standards.
Haruna Ɗanyaya made this known during the 2024 Ningi Breast Cancer Awareness Walk and Free Medical Outreach organized by Nabalago Foundation, founded by the wife of the Speaker Bauchi State House of Assembly, Hajiya Hafsat Abi Abubakar Sulaiman.
The Emir who was represented by the Chiroman Ningi Alhaji Yusuf Yunusa Ɗanyaya, described the speaker’s wife commitments particularly in the health and education as commendable, saying that the Ningi Emirate Council will continue to support the policies and programs that will improve the healthcare of every citizens in Ningi.
Speaking at the occasion, The Bauchi State First Lady Hajiya Aishatu Bala Abdulkadir used the medium to call on women in the state to prioritize personal and environmental hygiene to prevent the spread of communicable and non communicable diseases.
She advised women in Ningi community to adopt a balance diet eating style to reduce the risk of breast cancer, hypertension and other illnesses.
Earlier speaking during the occasion, The Chairperson of Nabalago Foundation, wife to the Speaker Bauchi State State Assembly Hajiya Hafsat Abi Abubakar Sulaiman, said the exercise meant to advocate for more focus on breast cancer awareness for rapid development of the society.
Abi Hafsat reels out some of the goals of Nabalago Foundation, which include promoting health, assisting the less privileged families and enrollment drive campaign.
She observed that the breast cancer is the second most commonly diagnosed cancer worldwide and a leading cause of cancer related deaths among women.
In their separate remarks, Ningi Local Government Chairman Nasiru Zakari Ningi and the Medical Director of National Obstetric Fistula Center, Ningi Dr. Halima Musa Mukaddas, commended the efforts of Hajiya Hafsat for coming up with the laudable project, pledging to contribute their quarter towards revamping the healthcare system in the state.
About 200 patients have benefited from the Free Medical Outreach and Breast Cancer Awareness themed “No One Should Face Breast Cancer Alone”
