
…Assures More Supports to Sub-nationals

The Presidential Enabling Business Environment Council (PEBEC), has continued its nationwide town hall meeting and stakeholders engagement tour in Maiduguri, Borno State.

The meeting aimed to assess the state’s potentials in terms of ease of doing business and create an enabling environment to attract investors.
The Director General of PEBEC, Zahra Mustapha Audu at the Borno State Geographic Information System Conference Hall, said the Borno State Government was proactive in implementing the deliverables embedded in SABER initiative despite not accessing the funds under the programme.

She further described PEBEC as partner that offers technical support on doing business. She urged participants to take the advantage of the initiative under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
She stated that the PEBEC nationwide tour is an annual engagement being scheduled in May/June of every year.
The Project Manager Mrs Aimeya Okpebholo who remarked on PEBEC mandate, said “This project will enable states to compete favourably with their counterparts globally in terms of business opportunities”.
Borno State Commissioner of Finance, represented by the Permanent Secretary of the ministry, Alhaji Basha Kachallah, lauded President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s 8 point agenda in line with the initiative and pledged to work in synergy with the Federal Government to achieve the desired objective.
He highlighted that “Borno State government is committed to providing an enabling environment for businesses to thrive, where viable policies and programmes are been formulated to enhance the business environment”.
Panel discussants, Professor Bello Alhaji Ibrahim, Chairman of the Borno State Internal Revenue, Executive Secretary Borno State Geographical Information System (BOGIS) Engr. Adam Bababe, highlighted measures taken by the government to address challenges faced by businesses and investors.
They noted major improvements in sectors such as agriculture, hospitality, security and private sector including financial institutions, civil society organizations and trade unions, proffered suggestions on ways to create a more favourable business environment in the state.

Borno State Coordinator State Action on Business Enabling Reform (SABER) initiative on Ease of Doing Business Hajiya Maryam Shehu lead the PEBEC officials in the state commended the DG’s visit to Borno State.
She commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his efforts to create a thriving atmosphere for investors and business owners.
Questions and answer session was also held, with government representatives and PEBEC officials.
