DG SON Appreciates Gov Inuwa For Piece Of Land, Consistent Support

The Director General of the Standard Organization of Nigeria (SON) Dr. Ifeayi Chukwunoso Okeke, has expressed gratitude to Gombe State Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya for allocating the organization with a piece of land for the construction of its North East Regional Office and a training school in the state.

 

This was according to a press statement signed and made available to Jewel Times by the Information Officer SSG’s Office Joshua ĆŠanmalam.

Presenting a letter of appreciation to the Governor through the Secretary to the Gombe State Government Professor Ibrahim Abubakar Njodi, the Director General of SON represented by the North East Regional Director James Danlami Yakzum, said top echelon of the organization are enthus by the Governor’s magnanimity.

 

He explains that, the soon to be establish training school will focus on mentoring individuals within and outside the state on the production and packaging of spices for export, saying some entrepreneurs who work within the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) of the SON are now exporting their products to International markets.

The SON Zonal Director says apart from the piece of land allocated to them, the administration of Governor Inuwa Yahaya has consistently provide the organization with supports to enable it carry out its constitutional responsibilities.

 

Responding on behalf of the State Chief Executive, the Secretary to the Gombe State Government Professor Ibrahim Abubakar Njodi says the administration of Governor Inuwa Yahaya delights in providing an enabling environment for government institutions to function optimally.

Professor Njodi advised the SON to take advantage of the numerous media organizations in the state in order to sensitize the public on their rights and responsibilities regarding the quality of goods and services.

 

The SSG says it is within the right of any Nigerian patronizing goods and services to get value for his or her money, stressing the need for the SON to increase the tempo of its public enlightenment campaign.

He described Nigerians as endangered species owing to the high level of the production and packaging of substandard products without recourse to health and wellbeing of its end users.

 

Professor Njodi however commended the zonal coordinator of SON James Yakzum for heeding to his earlier advice on the need for the organization to assert its presence in the state, saying more public engagement still needs to be done.
