The Association of Northern Nigerian Students (ANNS) has given the National Assembly 48 hours ultimatum to reverse its decision over the suspension of Senator Abdul Ahmad Ningi; Senator Representing Bauchi Central Senatorial District in Bauchi State or face shutdown.
This was contained in a press statement signed and made available to Jewel Times by the National President, ANNS Comrade Sani Adamu.
Sani Adamu said the leadership of the association totally condemned the decision of the senate leadership over the suspension of the senator.
“If you could recall few days ago, Senator Abdul Ahmad Ningi has accused the Senate President of budget padding amounting to ₦3.7 Trillion which remains unaccounted for in the 2024 budget, that the amount were earmarked without specific project”.
Comrade Sani Adamu reminded the Senate President on the duties and responsibilities of the legislature, maintaining that “What Senator Abdul Ahmad Ningi did was part of his duty as member of the legislature to scrutinize the budget, ensure its full implementation and make laws for the country.
He added that “We give 48 hours ultimatum to the senate leadership to reverse their decision on Ningi or face a mega protest that will shutdown National Assembly”.
