The National Cash Transfer Office of the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, in partnership with the Bauchi State Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management, has organized a one-day sensitization and awareness meeting on the Household Prosperity and Empowerment (HOPE) Programme.
The meeting, held at Chartwell Hotel Bauchi, aimed to create awareness and discuss the successes and challenges of the programme’s implementation.
In her address, the State Programme Manager Hajiya Hadiza Abdulkadir explained that the HOPE Programme is part of the National Social Safety-Nets Project Scale-Up (NASSP-SU), with Bauchi State being one of the beneficiary states in Nigeria.
She promised to ensure transparency, efficiency, and accessibility in delivering the life-changing programme.
Hadiza Abdulkadir highlighted the vital role traditional rulers have played in uplifting the lives of vulnerable citizens in the state.
She announced that the HOPE Programme aims to support millions of poor households with direct cash transfers to strengthen resilience and improve their lives status.
In separate remarks, The State Commissioner for Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management Hajara Yakubu Wanka, represented by Director of Account and Finance Usman Aliyu Zailani, and Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning Jibrin Muhammad Yusuf, noted that the present administration of Governor Bala Abdulkadir Muhammad is committed to improving the lives of vulnerable people in both rural and urban communities.
In his contributory remarks, The Permanent Secretary of the State Ministry of Women Affairs and Child Development, Mallam Saleh Mamman, called on officers managing the HOPE Programme to discharge their duties effectively and with integrity towards achieving the desired objectives.
To this end, Participants from various organizations, including the Bauchi Emirate Council, SDGs, CAN, JNI, NOA, ICPC, and FOMWAN, promised to disseminate the knowledge acquired to their respective communities.
