Bauchi Govt Receives Five Million Dollars From World Bank For Implementation Of AGILE Project

The Bauchi State Government has received five million dollars out of eighty million dollars from the World Bank for the implemention of Adolescent Girls Initiative for Learning and Empowerment (AGILE) Project in the state.

The State Commissioner for Education Dr. Jamila Muhammad Dahiru gave the assurance at a one day quarterly state steering committee meeting, organised by the State Ministry of Education In Collaboration with the project at Chartwell Hotel, Bauchi.

Dr. Dahiru Jamila reaffirmed state government commitment towards proper utilization of the AGILE fund to achieve the desire objectives.

She said the World Bank assisted project in conjunction with the Federal Ministry of Education is geared towards improving teaching and learning outcomes among girls between the ages of 10 to 20 years.

Jamila Dahiru said AGILE project in the state is to renovate over one thousand public schools across the state towards strengthening the education system.

She observed that the project will assist poor families who don’t have the opportunity to sent their girl children in to public schools.

The commissioner charged the committee members to work based on the term and reference of the AGILE project for proper adoption of approve work plan in the state.

In a presentation of 2024 approved work plan, The State Coordinator of the AGILE project in Bauchi State Alhaji Ali Sule Gar, explained the three components of the project to the committee for proper deliberation.

Bauchi State is among the eleven states selected in the country to benefit from the project, which aims to boost adolescent girls Education.
