The Deputy Governor of Bauchi State and Chairman of the State Boundary Commission, Auwal Muhammad Jatau has commended the communities of Kubdiya Village of Gamawa Local Government Area and Tarbuwa Hamlet in Zaki Local Government Area for conducting meetings to resolve their lingering boundary disputes.

He made the commendation during a stakeholders meeting and fieldwork exercise on the final demarcation of the border line between the two LGAs.

Auwal Jatau who was represented by the State Surveyor General, Surveyor Abdullahi Haruna, explained that the exercise aimed to demarcate and monument the boundary line between the two LGAs.

He emphasized that the fieldwork is crucial for the success of the boundary project and urged the two local government chairmen and traditional rulers to cooperate with the implementation committee.

Jatau noted that “Governor Bala Abdulkadir Muhammad is committed to working with traditional title holders to overcome boundary disputes, particularly in borderline communities”.

He added that “Implementing the recommendations of the boundary committee, led by the Emir of Katagum, would no doubt resolve the dispute”.

The committee’s recommendations are based on the 1924 Northern Provinces Map, which shows the old Katagum to Bursali Footpath as the border line between the two Local Governments.

In their separate remarks, The Chairmen of Gamawa and Zaki LGAs, Madaki Ahmad Gololo and Adamu Yakubu, promised to support the fieldwork exercise to provide an amicable resolution to the boundary disputes.

They also appreciated Governor Bala Muhammad’s leadership style, particularly through his deputy, Auwal Mohammad Jatau, for taking proactive measures to address boundary disputes among the 20 local government areas of the state.
